Hej there! Nice to see you.

Welcome to my little corner of the web! 👋 My name is Jonas, and I’m a software developer with a passion for crafting intuitive and engaging frontend experiences. Currently based in Malmö, Sweden 🇸🇪, I’m all about building software products that blend functionality with great user experiences—by always trying to deep dive into what users truly need!

I thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments, where I often find myself acting as a bridge between stakeholders, designers, and product managers. Whether it’s translating technical discussions with fellow devs into plain language or helping teams align on reasonable requirements for the available resources, I enjoy tackling challenges and finding creative solutions to bring ideas to life.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of SaaS tools, primarily focusing on web-based single-page applications (SPAs). My daily toolbox includes handling routing, state management, REST APIs, authentication flows, automated testing, and all the nitty-gritty details that go into working with modern frontend frameworks.

Framework-wise, I have deep experience in the Vue.js ecosystem—this very site was built with Nuxt 3 (or rather rebuilt in it, as the original version was built in Vue 2 years back 😄, but it's still wip so bear with me)—but I’ve also worked on projects using React and Next.js. So, I’m comfortable switching contexts depending on what the project calls for. Beyond frameworks, I usually code in both JavaScript and TypeScript, but also have some experience working full-stack, and, not work but a hobby, hacking together some Python scripts for my Raspberry Pi. Curious about the other tech and tools I’ve worked with? Scroll down to the skills section 🛠 to dive into the specifics!

Lead Frontend Developer & Founding Team Member

At Taxwize we are developing a productivity and collaboration SaaS tool for the tax advisor industry in Germany, enhancing the advisor's daily work by supplying AI tools for research and communication.

I joined the team during the soft launch period with selected customers guiding further development with their feedback. For that I conducted user research interviews with users after their initial onboarding to define the next steps in feature improvements and development. Another part of my early work as frontend lead was the introduction of new frontend conventions, leading architectural decisions, and refactoring to improve code quality and maintainability of the code base.

Besides development, I was also responsible for creating a self-onboarding experience in the service. For that, I utilized Userflow, which I have worked with before but not to the same extent. In multiple interactive flows, the users could explore the key features themselves with guided examples. We also handled the announcements and showcasing of feature additions with Userflow, giving the users the possibility not only to read about changes but get an instant hands-on experience. We received great feedback on this setup, so I can absolutely recommend Userflow as a tool and investing time in good user onboarding in general!

One thing I enjoy about joining a small team in such an early startup is the freedom and hands-on involvement in a lot of areas, not only the code. From product vision discussions to sales calls and customer demos, I can constantly do many different things outside of what my title (and my initial job description 😄) entails! That also includes doing some full-stack work, also handling the backend side of changes. We use the Django framework there and using Python in this context was a fun new experience for me as I previously mostly worked with it for scripting.

Senior Frontend Developer & Frontend Tech Lead

Debricked is a former startup located in Malmö, Sweden and got acquired in 2022 by Micro Focus, which now belongs to Opentext. The company's goal is it to make it easier for customers to use open source securely. With solutions for vulnerability management, license compliance, and open source health Debricked offers a SaaS toolkit to improve how companies can use open source software to build their products.

At Debricked, I started working as an intern after finishing all my exams for my master's. It was my first time working full-time in a development team, a fast-paced startup environment, oh and also living and working abroad! 😄 Words like Scrum and Sprints which I mostly knew from lectures suddenly became my day-to-day environment together with my colleagues from multiple disciplines such as design and UX, product management, and of course the other devs.

During my time there I got the chance to complete my master's thesis in collaboration with Debricked, tackling the topic of ‘Reducing time of vulnerability exposure in open source software usage for public sector software development’ utilizing a human-centered approach, running interviews and other user research methods to conceptualize and implement a new feature for handling breaking changes in vulnerability remediation of open source dependencies.

After completing my studies, I got back to working full-time on the SaaS platform working on various features and technical architecture projects, including the frontend's migration from Vue 2 to Vue 3 including an overhaul of the single-page application architecture. Also, I was building and leading the project of a new browser extension, which, if you are a developer who browses the web to find your next open source dependency to import (and I know the next time that happens is soon 😉), should give a try and add to your Chrome browser here.

Internship - User Experience Research

XING is the leading business network in the German-speaking market and offers a platform for networking, staying in contact with colleagues, finding a new job, and keeping up with news for more than 18 million members.

I was responsible for planning and organizing the User Feedback Coffee, one of the user research formats. Due to the corona pandemic and the fact that all employees were working from home, it was my task to develop this towards a remote format.

I conducted several user interviews myself after taking part in an interview workshop and worked in different qualitative and quantitative research projects on the preparation, interview guideline creation, performing the studies, and analyzing the findings.
Working for almost half a year in full-time was an awesome experience and a nice 'break' from studying! Almost daily new challenges gave me a lot of practical experience and I have learned so much working on my tasks and from my colleagues.
